The People I Want For Ministerial Positions — President Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari on July 27 touched upon a currently sensitive issue for Nigerians as he spoke in Abuja on “Good Morning Nigeria” TV programme.
The country leader was questioned about the highly anticipated appointment of ministers. Buhari, who has been under criticism over the delay in announcing the senior officials, said that only patriotic, decent and experienced people would form the cabinet, NAN reports. He also claimed that politicians and technocrats would make the list of nominees.
It should be recalled that since Buhari’s inauguration on May 29, the talks about the ministerial list have continued without a break. Media have been reporting about the possible and likely candidates. The president, however, explained he did not want to hurry with such an important decision.
In a recent development President Buhari wrote for the US Washington Post stating that the ministers would be appointed in September.
Now number one politician discloses more about the personalities of the ministers-to-be-appointed.

“From what I have seen so far, we need really patriotic Nigerians – Nigerians that can work very hard, knowledgeable, experienced, committed Nigerians – to be in charge of ministries.
“A lot of the institutions of Nigeria – important institutions – were compromised. Everybody was for himself and God for all of us; its most unfortunate.
“We have the people, educated people, experienced people but everybody seemed to be working for himself – how much he could get as much and as quick as possible.
“We have to look for technocrats and we have to look for politicians and certainly we have to look for decent people in this class to give them the responsibility of being in charge of ministries and important parastatals (agencies).”
Regarding the under-dealings in the oil and gas sector, Buhari vowed to find and punish those involved in illegal schemes.
“The search continues; up to the third of this month, our crude was still being illegally lifted by people who are in government. We are trying to get these documents. We are getting the cooperation of the international community.
How To Be A Successful Entrepreneur
Jim McKelvey, an American computer science engineer and entrepreneur is the co-founder of Square, a mobile payments company.
During his maiden visit to Nigeria, the world-acclaimed businessman was a guest speaker at Tech Plus Conference & Expo facilitated by MTN Nigeria and a host of other companies.
In a media chat, he spoke with Femi Ayodele of Naija.com and other newsmen on how entrepreneurs can smell opportunity and how they can be more innovative
What is your impression about Tech Plus Conference & Expo?
This is a catalyst for change and improvement. We have a community of people that are supporting each other in the aspect of technological advancement so for Nigeria to build a similar community will be important and this is a good start.
Jim McKelvey
What should be the focus of a young entrepreneur seeking opportunities in technology?
It is a big question. Your question is being particular about young entrepreneurs in Nigeria. I don’t know much about the young in Nigeria but in United States for instance, a 20-year-old have been raised with a lot of praise given the background. There is a lot of positive reinforcement through school and some of these people can start a company with immediate success. One of the important things as a young entrepreneur seeking to maximise opportunities in technology in Nigeria or any other part of the world is to learn not to accept defeat at the early stage. When I see a lot of people do that, they seem to focus on the current state: the unsuccessful state of technology. Most products that are innovative and are really world changing are meant for the future, built for something to come. They never worked like a big deal at the beginning. For instance, in the United States, everyone thought Square was going to fail. When we started people thought we would not get there. They dismissing the idea but It turned out that all these companies turned tremendously successful in spite of the fact it didn’t look like anything form the beginning. One of the things to remember as an entrepreneur is that you are not going to get feedback early.
From your success story, what do you think is required to be a successful entrepreneur?
The most critical thing is stubbornness, plain perseverance. Most of the time as an entrepreneur you are dealing with things that are not working. As a matter of fact, this is what you do as an engineer.

I ask for forgiveness from those we have offended. president Jonathan
While delivering his valedictory speech at the special thanksgiving and farewell service organized by Aso Villa Chapel yesterday May 17th, President Jonathan asked for forgiveness from those who might have felt offended by any of the moves his government made, stating that such moves were not intended to deliberately hurt anyone. He said no human institution is everperfect. He urged everyone to pursue work towards a better Nigeria even as they leave government positions.“No system is perfect. Every human system must have an element of imperfection. For the period of eight years that we have been here.I will take the period as a block because my transition from VP to President was gradual and complicated. It was intertwined so you cannot actually draw the line.Because when the President was challenged within major health issues, I was running the country forsometimes even before the doctrine of necessity made me as acting president. Then I took over at first and conducting the 2011 election I won and I had to run my full four years as an elected president. So for the eight that one has been there, definitely one is not perfect. We have certainly done things that probably we wouldn’t have done that way, but we didn’t do things deliberately. So for those who we have offended it was not deliberate, it was circumstances of the office. So we also plead that those people should forgive, we think we have done our best. You can do your best and yourfriends may misunderstand you.Today we are talking about leaving, it is only God that knows why thingsgo the way they do.We came in as Vice President and my wife, today we are leaving as theformer president and former First Lady. We have achieved it through you.Let me specifically thank the chaplain, the clergymen, the pastorsand their wives. For the past eight years we have every reason to be thankful to God. Every individual has his/her own calling.I also believe that people who take over political leadership have their own callings to do specific things. No one, head of a government, be it at the national level or the sub- regional levels can do every thing. But when you leave, you will want to do something to show that yes I was here. The chaplain has said that nothing is perfect, if you wait for perfection, you cannot achieve anything.Ordinarily 24th of May would havenbeen the last Service here. But that 24th, we will all go to the National Christian Centre for the inauguration service. So for me and my wife, this is our last day of worship here. Though we are leaving as president and First Lady, but we have not left you, because we are still in this country, we will continue to interact one wayor the other, probably along the line we may even come closer.I believe some of you may even come closer, and even do more meaningful things together when we leave office.I don’t really believe that it is only ingovernment that you can do thing, even outside government you do a lot of things. The richest people in the world don’t even serve in government.Dangote has never been in government, so you don’t need to bein government to be rich. Bill Gates has not been in government. So outside government a lot of things happen, it is for us to be committed and continue to be focus. Me and my wife really love all of you.”he said

SECRET DOCUMENTS: Shocking Revelations About Buhari
A Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President, Reuben Abati, published an abstract from secret documents in his Twitter, exposing the information from Wikileaks about Buhari’s 1983-84 governing years.
The information is provided by the Public Library of United States Diplomacy through Wikileaks. The exposed classified letter is dated September 20, 2002. It reads in part:
Like President Obasanjo before the 1999 election, General Buhari’s political experience is limited to that of military Head of State. Buhari came to power as a result of a 1983 New Year’s Eve coup against the democratically elected Shehu Shagari. The eviction of Shagari came as a welcome relief as did Buhari’s promise to root out corruption. That relief, however, was short-lived as Nigerians watched despairingly as the Buhari regime’s promises to revive the economy and wipe out rampant corruption withered during 20 months of heavy-handed, largely ineffective rule.
In May 1984, Buhari ordered the brutal expulsion of 700,000 illegal immigrants from neighboring African states, jailed hundreds of political opponents and muzzled a once aggressive press. His loyalty to the military also came into question as he dismissed 30,000 soldiers as a cost-cutting measure. Buhari also soured Nigeria’s relations with Britain, when he was accused of masterminding a clumsy and unsuccessful attempt in July 1984 to kidnap President Shagari’s brother-in-law, former Transport Minister Umaru Dikko. Moreover, Buhari undermined traditional rulers throughout Nigeria, slashing their benefits and questioning their authority.

Mourinho 'agrees deal in principle' to let Chelsea defender leave Give Me Sport 13:33 18-Dec-14
Reports in Turkey claim Besiktas have agreed a deal in principle to sign Chelseadefender Kurt Zouma on loan from January.
Amkspor reportthat the outline for a deal to bring Zouma to Turkey has been agreed between the Turkish giants and Chelsea in the January transfer window.
Besiktas will reportedly pay a fee to take the Frenchman on loan, with Chelsea keen to get him exposure to first-team football. Chelsea and Besiktas are on good relations following the transfer of Demba Ba earlier this year.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho insisted earlier this week that he's looking to keep his 'very good but thin' Chelsea squad together over the winter window, with few expected in or out.
But while the Blues manager may not be keen to sell in January, he could be open to letting fringe players leave on loan.

UPDATE: BH Reportedly Kidnap 185 Women And Children In Borno –
According to local officials and a witness militant Boko Haram group killed 32 people and abducted scores of others in an attack on the village of Gumsuri in Borno State.
Two Borno state officials who confirmed the attack said the locals were still counting those kidnapped in the attack Sunday, December 14, in the distant area but that the number could pass 100 and comprised women and children.
Breaking news emerges by CNN that 185 women and children were kidnapped by Boko Haram men during a raid on Gumsuri village 20km from Chibok in Borno state on Sunday December 14th. Men were shot, homes were burnt and women taken away. This is the largest rounding up of women and children since the abduction of Chibok girls in April 2014.
Gunmen shoot down men before herding women and children together.
“They gathered the women and children and took them away in trucks after burning most of the village with petrol bombs,”a local government official said on condition anonymity for fear of reprisal.
At least 33 killed in village near Damboa in north-east Nigeria. Dozens of young men, women and children abducted. Happened Sunday

Local resident, Mukhtar Buba, who fled Gumsuri to the Borno state capital Maiduguri said: “After killing our youths, the insurgents have taken away our wives and daughters.”

Information took four days to appear because the mobile phone network has largely crashed in the area approximately 70 kilometres (43 miles) south of Maiduguri, and many of the roads are blocked.
The village, raided by insurgents, is situated on the road that leads to Chibok, where Boko Haram abducted more than 200 girls from a school in April 14, 2014.
One of the local officials said Gumsuri had earlier been protected against Boko Haram violence by a strong vigilante force, but that they were overcame in Sunday’s attack.
“For the past one year, the insurgents have made several attempts to attack Gumsuri but were resisted by the gallant youths of the village,” he told AFP.
“It is sad that on Sunday, the village was subdued,” he continued.
The other official said the terrorists “stormed the village in a convoy of vehicles (armed) with petrol bombsand heavy weapons”.
Buba, the villager, said more than half the village had been destroyed.

“The terrorists mercilessly attacked us and killed at will,” he said.
UPDATE: Borno officials learned of the raid from villagers who fled to Maiduguri, the capital of state, where the officials had moved a year ago to escape Boko Haram violence.
The terrorists stormed the village from two directions, overpowering local vigilantes who had repelled Boko Haram raids over the course of the year, said Gumsuri resident Umar Ari, who hiked for four days to Maiduguri.
“They destroyed almost half the village and took away 185 women, girls and boys,” Ari said.
Borno is the focal point of Boko Haram’s five-year uprisingaimed at producing a severe Islamic state in northern Nigeria.
Attacks alike to Sunday’s raid in Gumsuri have intensified over the last 18 months, with the insurgents taking control of more than two dozen towns and villages in the region.
No fewer than 1.5 million people have left their homes and fears are rising that persistent unrestwill prevent voters in the region from participating in general elections scheduled for February 14.

Elections 2015: Why Jonathan May Not Contest In 2015
President Goodluck Jonathan may not contest for the 2015 presidential election if the Supreme Court finds him ineligible to do so.
The Court, yesterday, fixed December 16 to commence hearing on the suit filed before it by a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from Adamawa State, Dr. Umar Ardo, through his lawyer, Dr. A. Amuda Kannike, seeking to stop President Goodluck Jonathan from vying for re-election next year.
The President’s lawyer Mr. Ade Okeaya-Inneh, SAN, told the court that he has already supplied before it, several legal authorities backing his re-election bid. He argued that Ardo has no strong case against Jonathan, as the 1999 constitution permits him to go for a second tenure in office.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), through its lawyer Mr. C. I. Paul, yesterday, applied for a short time to file its response to the suit, while the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), told the apex court that it would remain neutral and abide by whatever decision the court will take on the contentious issue.
Justice Tanko Mohammed, while adjourning the case, gave all the parties seven days to file and exchange their written arguments.
Ardo, who wants the court to stop President Jonathan from contesting in 2015, is further challenging the refusal of the Abuja Division of the Appeal Court to join him as a party in the suit filed against Jonathan by another member of the PDP, Mr. Cyriacus Njoku.
He had insisted before the court that he had enough evidence to prove that President Jonathan lacks the legal backing to remain in office beyond 2015.

– 5 Powerful Reasons Why Nigerians Should Elect Buhari –
The former Head of the State General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) is one of the key presidential aspirants on the platform of the main opposition party, the All Progressive Congress (APC), in the forthcoming elections.
Naij.com offers you have a look at 5 important reasons why General Buharimight be a better candidate than his opponents.
The presidential aspirant Muhammadu Buhari
1. Man of integrity
General Buhari is the man of integrity. As a former Petroleum Minister, Buhari does not own an oil rig or even a petrol station in his name. Since retiring from active service in the government, the General has lived on his pension. When he served as the PTF chairman, he refused to draw a salary from the commission, explaining that his conscience would not allow him take money from a government already paying his pension. He owns two houses: one at Kaduna; the other at Daura, his hometown in Katsina State.
2. He is not corrupt
Nigeria is reeling in corruption. Buhari won a rare reputation as a fighter against corruption during his time in charge of Nigeria from 1983-85. Most Nigerians agree he did not use the presidency to enrich himself and his backers. His iron-fisted administration jailed several politicians on graft charges. Gen. Buhari’s campaign team have made it clear that they would not be pre-occupied with pursuing past corrupt government officials to the detriment of the national development; rather, the CPC manifesto says the Buhari Administration will strengthen anti-corruption agencies (EFCC, ICPC and the Police), while it concentrates on fulfilling its campaign promises to the Nigerian populace. When the head is good, it is only a matter of time the body will get better.
3. Religion
Buhari’s ethnic background is Fulani, and his faith is Islam; he is a native of Daura in Katsina State of Nigeria. But he is not a religious fanatic. He also said he was not opposed to a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2015 elections.
Once he said: “I have not absolutely closed my mind to picking a Christian or Muslim as running mate if I get the ticket. I firmly believe that Nigerians, having gone through what they have gone through, realise it is not a matter of religion, but a matter of Nigeria.
“And the main religions, Christianity and Islam, they know and they believe in the Almighty God. The question of stealing and short-changing people in the name of religion should stop.”
4. Insurgency

4. Insurgency

Goodluck Jonathan declares interest to run for re-election in 2015
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, a copy obtained by Sahara Reporters.
Jonathan stated that the senators should know that there were other more pressing issues that should attract their attention instead of threatening to remove him from office.
The statement, however, did not reveal if President Jonathan considers that he has, or has not, committed any impeachable offence.
“The Senate in the last four years has conducted its legislative functions and responded to issues that are of great national importance with commendable political sagacity. In this same period, the senate has functioned as a stabilizing force within the polity employing much political maturity that is required to guide and protect our nascent democracy,”the statement read.
However, the President pointed out that confrontation and strong disagreements are not uncommon phenomenon in executive and legislative relationship worldwide, adding that the recent purported attempt by some Senators to prepare impeachable offences against him as reported in some section of the Media is seen by him in this light.
The President in the statement expressed strong trust and believes in the leadership of the present Senate and the unwavering patriotism and commitment that have been shown by the distinguished members.
It further expressed believe that ultimately it is the tendency towards true Nationalism that will prevail in the Senate.
“It is our view that there are at present, serious fundamental issues of National importance such as winning the war against terrorism and stabilizing the economy in the face of dwindling oil revenue which requires the full attention, commitment and swift action of distinguished members of the Senate. We are of the opinion that all matters political can and will be resolved politically in the overall interest of our democracy and the wellbeing of our people,”the statement read
